The Cycle
What do you do, when the one person you want
Doesn’t seem to want youÂ
How do you cope, when you finally realize
You’ve got to give up hope
You get in the shower, and head to work and wait
For minutes to tick off the hour
Picking up food and the drive through, but its all bland
When not sharing it with you
It feels empty inside, but the world goes on
Without anywhere to hide
And in the door walks you, looking past the callouses
Trying to breakthrough
Because you know what’s under, these scars and bruises
Is beauty, hope, wonder
But you can’t maintain, so after softening my skin
You leave with your own pain
And the cycle goes, someone else doing the same for you
All starting with the simplest of hurt and woes
